Jason Day and Payntr Golf Launch New Shoe Collection – The Eighty Seven SC

PORTLAND, OR – PGA champion and former World No. 1 golfer, Jason Day, and PAYNTR Golf, North America’s fastest-growing golf footwear brand, today announce the official launch of their highly anticipated collaboration: the PAYNTR Golf Eighty-Seven Speed Classic (SC), set to hit retail on October 4, 2024.

This launch marks a groundbreaking moment of the 10-month process, marrying Day’s refined style with PAYNTR Golf’s advanced performance technology in an innovative, classic silo collection that will debut three additional Speed Classic models in Spring 2025.

The PAYNTR Golf Eighty Seven SC is designed with both performance and comfort in mind. Day was highly involved in the development of the Eighty Seven SC from start to finish and personally began wear-testing the classic-looking silo during the 2024 Masters. Throughout the process, Day provided invaluable feedback to PAYNTR Golf’s engineering team on the shoe’s entire makeup from materials and styling to overall design. This intensive development process ensured that the Eighty Seven SC was optimized for both competitive and casual golfers.

The Eighty Seven SC represents a milestone in PAYNTR Golf’s innovative approach to footwear. This launch also continues their tradition of utilizing cutting-edge technology, such as the Full-Length Carbitex Directional Carbon Fiber Propulsion Plate, which boosts ground reaction forces, delivering more power and speed in the downswing. Combined with the waterproof and breathable Clarino Microfiber Performance Upper and TOUR Flex Pro Cleats, this shoe delivers unmatched comfort, stability, and performance for all types of course conditions.

One of the standout features is the 87 perforated holes in the design, which provide excellent breathability—an homage to Day’s lucky number, 87.

Key Features of the PAYNTR Golf Eighty-Seven SC:

  • Waterproof + Breathable Clarino Microfiber Performance Upper
  • TPU Injected Stability Heel Clip
  • Ariaprene Tongue Booty Comfort Package
  • PMX NITRO+ Injected 3D Molded Footbed
  • Performance Foam Filler
  • Full-Length Directional Carbon Fiber Propulsion Plate by Carbitex
  • Lightweight Injected Performance TPU Outsole
  • TOUR Flex Pro Cleats by Soft Spikes

A pivotal aspect of this partnership is Day’s equity ownership in PAYNTR Golf, underscoring his commitment to the brand’s mission. This goes far beyond a simple endorsement deal, as Day has played a key role in the design and development of the collection, ensuring it reflects both his personal preferences and his knowledge of what modern golfers need on the course.

Mike Forsey, Co-Founder and President of PAYNTR Golf, shared his excitement about the collection: “Jason has brought a fresh perspective and invaluable insights to this collaboration. His expertise and passion for the game are evident in every aspect of the Eighty Seven SC. This is more than just a golf shoe—it’s a game-changer that will raise the bar for what golfers can expect from their footwear.”

The Eighty Seven SC offers golfers a product that combines the best in performance technology with a timeless, classic aesthetic. With Day’s hands-on approach, the Eighty Seven SC stands out as a true reflection of his personal style and commitment to excellence.

The Eighty Seven SC will be available at select retailers and online on October 1, 2024.

Harbour Town Golf Links to Undergo Restoration

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Harbour Town Golf Links — currently ranked No. 27 among Golf Digest’s Top 100 Public Courses in the U.S. and No. 5 on its list of Best Courses in South Carolina — is readying for an extensive restoration project. The course will close on May 5, 2025, and reopen in November 2025.

Originally designed by renowned architect Pete Dye and assisted by Jack Nicklaus, Harbour Town has been the home of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing since it opened in 1969.

The iconic Pete Dye design will be restored to ensure championship-level conditions while preserving classic shot values and design. The restoration will thoughtfully consider Dye’s famous design but will make improvements to agronomy and maintenance of the course, rebuilding all greens, bunkers and bulkheads. The different turfs currently in use—TifEagle on the greens; Celebration Bermuda on the fairways, tees and rough—will remain the same. Work has already begun by replacing railroad ties on some of the bulkheads.

“Everyone at The Sea Pines Resort is committed to honoring the legacy of Pete Dye’s design,” said John Farrell, Director of Sports Operations. “We will protect the shot values, both long and short, that have come to define Harbour Town Golf Links for nearly six decades.”

Five-time RBC Heritage champion and well-noted golf designer, Davis Love III and his company Love Golf Design will serve as consultants to the restoration. Love also designed Atlantic Dunes at The Sea Pines Resort.
