I enjoyed your podcast, first time listener. I am a 69 yr old male that had a hip replaced 1 and 1/2 yrs ago. Before the hip went bad I carried a 6 Handicap. After the hip I ballooned to a 12 . Surgery and 1 plus years of working out brought it back to a 5. I play 2-3 times a week and practice 2-3 times a week . Any infomation that you could forward as to weight training that may be helpful to golfers as to types of lifts to focus on. Particularly for us older folks to try to maintain swing speed. I live in Minnesota where golf is limited to indoor driving ranges till maybe april.

      Gary,

Just as with clubs, my top line recommendation is to work with someone who can give you personalized advice. That said, I think everyone would do well to focus on the big compound lifts – bench press, squat, dead lift, and rows. If you’re trying to maintain swing speed, I would add swing speed training. Specificity is king.

      Best,

      Matt
