Introduction
For some golfers, minimalism is a way of life. For others, there are a few occasions every season where a full bag is just not necessary. Whichever camp you fall in, it makes sense to have a smaller, lighter bag you can rely on. The Loma XL is a nice, affordable example of that kind of golf bag.

Looks
The Loma XL looks modern. With clean lines and updated colorways, it has a relatively minimal aesthetic. What keeps it from being truly minimalist are the features, many of which are readily apparent from just taking a glance at the bag.
The material feels high quality but not necessarily top-of-the-line. I don’t have an issue with that, considering the price ($149 on sale at time of writing). It feels like it would hold up well, especially for someone who doesn’t plan to make it their every-round bag. The Loma XL is available in black, gray, green, and blue.
Features
Where many minimal golf bags eschew features, the Sunday Golf Loma XL is packed with them. Perhaps the most significant are the foldable standing legs. Most Sunday bags don’t have them and require you to lay the bag on the ground. As someone who is used to using a stand bag, it’s nice to have that option. If you don’t want to use the legs, you can use a velcro strap to keep them in place.
The Loma XL is equipped with backpack-style straps, which is nice if you want it. To me, the bag isn’t heavy enough to warrant them, and it’s easier to just use one. It also has a plastic handle that can be used to easily carry the bag short distances. While you aren’t going to be able to fit a rain suit or sweater in the pockets, there is ample storage for balls and tees. There’s a small velcro patch to conveniently store a glove, a clip for your rangefinder case, and a velour-lined valuables pocket. There’s also a “frosty beverage” pocket designed to keep a can cold. A large water bottle likely won’t fit.
Performance
Weighing in at 3.4 lbs before anything is loaded in, the Loma XL is lightweight and easy to carry. Are there lighter bags out there? Possibly, but I doubt they have many of the features listed above. The straps are very comfortable.
Sunday Golf says that it holds “up to 8 clubs.” For me, 7 was the magic number. 8 felt too crowded and it started to become a little more difficult to find the right club and remove it without the grips getting caught together.
The stand was nice to use when it was time to set my bag down at my next shot, but between shots I noticed the leg closest to my body bouncing against me as I walked. I think this is because the bag is so narrow that it’s hard to get the legs into a retracted position that is significantly narrower than the bag itself. While the bag is made of fabric and can flex, the rigid legs stay in place. This is my only real complaint about the bag.
Overall, the bag does what it was designed to do. It’s easy to carry, and the stand deploys reliably, though you have to apply a bit more force than with a full bag, but that’s just physics. The features are a nice bonus. I especially appreciate the rangefinder clip and velcro patch for making it easier to play quickly once you’ve arrived at your shot.
Conclusion
The Sunday Golf Loma XL golf bag is a great budget option for a lightweight carry bag. It’s ideal for a golfer who only carries a half set or one who wants to do so a few times a year. There are lots of features and storage for its size, and a good quality to price ratio.

I use the original Sunday Golf Loma bag for my par 3 league. 7 clubs including my Cobra putter with a SuperStroke Traxion Tour 2.0 grip and no issues. The “waterbottle” holder works great for my rangefinder holder. I just put my water bottle in the cooler pocket.
Ridiculous. Titleist players 4 carbon might be 50 bucks higher but way better and lighter. I own 2 of them.
